Prior to receiving a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Nova
Southeastern Chris Evans worked in Tampa, Florida as a financial advisor and
stock broker for Omni Tax & Financial, and received a Bachelor of Science degree
in Finance from the University of Tampa. Recognizing an emerging market for
investment software catering to individual investors, Chris founded Sentient
Software, Inc. in 1992 to provide advanced analytics to the retail investor
market. Sentient’s flagship product ExpertTrader is considered the first retail
product in its area to incorporate embedded learning and neural networks, and
received industry and client accolades in the year following its release.
ExpertTrader attracted the attention of nearby competitor Omega Research, a Miami-based
software company also serving the retail investor market. After selling product
rights for ExpertTrader and converting existing customers to Omega Research products,
Chris joined Omega Research as a software engineer in 1994. Drawing from his investment and
trading knowledge coupled with a strong understanding of technology and software design,
Chris moved quickly up the ranks at Omega Research, and held positions including Engineer Lead, Program Manager,
Product Manager, Vice President of Product Strategy and Vice President of Product Research. Throughout his 8 year
tenure at Omega, which eventually became TradeStation (NASDAQ: TRAD), Chris maintained his
“hands on” approach, continuing to be involved with software design and architecture from the conceptual perspective as well as at the
code level.
Currently, Chris is involved with Global Market Media, Inc., an internet-based software publisher
and consulting firm providing leading-edge custom enterprise software.
Says Chris, "To me the internet is the 'Global Market Media', bringing together
people in ways that were unconsidered just a few years ago. I named the
company after this concept to serve as a reminder that the rules have changed
and our thinking needs to change as well. Limits have been redrawn in nearly
every area of society, but nowhere more than in business. Virtualization of offices and workforces
allows smaller businesses access to talent and resources that were previously unavailable.
This in turn levels the playing field in software innovation where smaller companies
often enjoy an advantage. By applying Agile software principles, and leveraging onshore and
offshore talent, Global Market Media is committed to providing a stream of innovative
business solutions."
